Work from Home with No Experience: THE TRUTH!

Are You Ready to Earn a Living Online?

Are you tired of the daily commute? Are you done with the traditional 9 to 5? With a laptop and an internet connection I managed to build my own business while also working remotely to earn over $100K a year, and my life completely changed. Let me show you exactly how I’ve been doing it for more than 10 years.

Ok, I’m about to tell you the secret to how you can work from home with no experience and still make a decent income doing it.

Are you ready?

Here it is:

YOU DON’T NEED EXPERIENCE TO WORK FROM HOME.

I sure as hell didn’t when I first started and if I could do it, so can you!

When I first began to work online, I literally had NO experience to speak of, especially when it came to anything marketing. I had previously gone to school to become a veterinary technician, the complete opposite of marketing experience.

No website coding experience

No content writing experience

Not even experience with social media.

I had nothing!

So how did I, a woman with no experience to bring to the table, was able to build a profitable business working from home in less than a year?

Well, to be honest, I taught myself everything I needed to know. I couldn’t tell you how many tutorials or training videos I watched or how many programs I joined like Wealthy Affiliate just to get to where I am. Once I did that, I began to experiment in my free time, seeing what worked and what didn’t. I found my own style and leveraged it until I earned the income I make today.

The problem isn’t having the experience. You can work from home without having a clue about what you are doing.

The problem is figuring out where to start.

Work from Home with No Experience? Not a Problem!

There are plenty of people out there that automatically assume you may need some experience in some areas of expertise in order to succeed online.

Actually, that can be true and, in some cases, helpful.

Even if you have never had the opportunity to create content online, manage social media profiles for a company, created an ad copy or even have experience with customer service, it doesn’t mean you don’t naturally have these skills. You probably just haven’t had the chance to utilize them!

Some of the skills you may already have, but just haven’t used before that could easily get you an entry-level job online can include:

  • Sales experience
  • Customer service
  • Academic or casual writing
  • Administrative or clerical work
  • Conducting online research
  • Fast typing skills

How to Work from Home with No Experience: Step-by-Step

Step One: Make Sure to Conduct Proper Research!

One of the many reasons most people tend to fall prey to online scams is because they don’t take the time to do the proper research beforehand. With this said, it is important to do your research whenever you come across a work from home opportunity. Be sure to look for reviews like this on online job postings that may be popular.

But, make sure to trust your instinct when you do.

Just because you may come across a few reviews that are positive, doesn’t necessarily mean the program is trustworthy. Check social media postings, complaints, the Better Business Bureau and your own gut instinct on whether a job posting is legit.

Also, don’t hesitate to educate yourself on working online by reading a few eBooks. It can be tough to find legitimate eBooks online anymore due to many of them being written to sell a program to you rather than educate. However, some of the ones I highly recommend checking out include:

Passive Income Freedom: 23 Passive Income Blueprints to Finally #ClaimYourFREEDOM by Gundi Gabrielle

This is another great read by Gundi Gabrielle. Passive income is something people always strive to earn, but without the truth and details, it can be hard to obtain. This book gives you simple, yet effective ways to earn a passive income by working from home.

Step Two: Have the Correct Tools for the Job

The next step to take is to make sure you have the appropriate tools you need in order to work from home successfully. Most companies that hire online employees will require a few standard things such as a stable internet connection, a computer (typically connected to a router) and a valid phone number or skype name in order to have open communication.

However, there are a few other apps I recommend having installed on your computer if you want to impress potential clients also include:

  • Microsoft Office suite-Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher and PowerPoint
  • Adobe Suite-(depending on the job)
  • Go to Meeting
  • Skype
  • A headset
  • Copyscape-ideal for content writers to ensure their content isn’t plagiarized

Step Three: Look for Legitimate Work from Home Jobs

Once you are sure you have the tools you need, the next step is to obviously begin searching for online jobs. This will be tricky because you will undoubtedly come across way too many scams. But, don’t worry. I’m here to make sure you don’t fall prey to these scams.

There are two primary places to find legitimate online jobs:

  • Freelancing websites
  • Job posting sites

We will go into how to find these types of jobs in these places in greater detail.

Freelancing Sites

In my opinion, this is perhaps the best place to start when looking for online work. Freelancing websites offer a great place for beginners to get their feet wet in the online space and understand exactly what is required of them when they work for a client online.

So, what is freelancing?

Freelancing is the simple phrase used when a self-employed person earns money in return for completing tasks or jobs for various clients. There are many different categories to classify freelance work such as:

  • Graphic design
  • Content creation
  • Website development and design
  • Copywriting
  • Sales
  • Digital marketing
  • eBook writing
  • Illustration
  • Animation
  • Administrative
  • Bookkeeping

Even if you don’t have experience in these fields, it is still possible for you to find jobs in this area. But it is important to gain an understanding of these fields and educate yourself on them first.

It goes without saying, the best way to find freelancing jobs is online. There are plenty of freelancing websites out there that are free to sign up with. But keep in mind, some of these sites are better than others.

The freelancing websites I recommend starting with include:

  • Upwork
  • HomeOfficeCareers.com
  • Flexjobs.com
  • Guru.com
  • Freelancer.com

As much as I could talk about freelancing all day, it is important to note that it isn’t for everyone. Contrary to popular belief, freelancing is HARD WORK. You need to be dedicated to the job, be control of your own hours, be in control of completing the work within the specified time frame given by the client and understand that if you earn over $600, you will have to claim those earnings on taxes.

Job Posting Sites

Now, this can be a bit tricky to find online jobs on, but trust me, they are out there. This can be a great way to earn some extra cash on your off time from your normal job, or if possible, to turn it into a full-time position with the right company.

A few listings for remote content writer jobs on Indeed.com

Keep in mind, while you can find remote positions on these sites, they are also littered with scam postings. To know the difference between them, if any of the jobs request a Google Hangout interview, they are most likely a scam. No company that is hiring for a legitimate work from home position will conduct an interview this way. Most companies will request to set up an interview with you directly via email or requesting your phone number.

Some of the best job sites to look for legitimate remote opportunities are:

  • Indeed.com
  • Monster.com
  • FlexJobs.com
  • Craigslist.com
  • ZipRecruiter.com
  • Workable.com
  • iHire.com
  • CareerBuilder.com
  • LinkedIn.com
